Sarah

Sarah

Adult Beginner

Melanie welcomes you into her home and quickly puts you at ease. She has infinite patience and is ready with praise and encouragement which is just what I need as a mature beginner. But above all it is her enthusiasm both for teaching and for music in general that is her best quality.

Child Grade 2

Melanie taught my daughter violin getting her to Grade 3 and securing a distinction in her exam. She is a wonderful player and very inspiring for any student. What I really enjoyed about her teaching was how willing she was to encourage a wide variety of musical tastes and her openness to go in any any direction that interested my daughter. This really engaged my daughter and kept up her enthusiasm. Lessons were fun and lively; at the same time Melanie was keen for her to make progress.

Magnus

Child Grade 1

Magnus is learning to play the piano with Melanie, at her warm and welcome house. He is enjoying his lessons and making good progress. Melanie is a patient teacher who knows just the right way to communicate with children, and engage them in their learning. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a music teacher.

Adult Grade 1

I have had two lessons with Melanie so far - we discussed what my aims were and we agreed we would follow a plan. Melanie writes down her advice from each lesson in a notepad so that it doesn't disappear into a vortex. I find her approach to teaching very constructive - she observes and then provides advice on how to improve. Melanie has comprehensive experience from studying, playing and teaching.

Mel is a fantastic violinist/viola player, and her enthusiasm for the instrument is evident in her teaching and rubs off on her students. (Cath - Emma’s Mum)

Child Beginner

Melanie is a really super tutor. She has a lovely manner and is friendly and helpful. She has good techniques to help with the consolidation of learning, and makes suggestions as to how to practice the pieces during the week in between sessions. Very encouraging and kind, so she has really helped my daughter to improve her playing technique, note reading and musicality for piano in just a few lessons.
